Cataract Falls

Last fall, I ended up at Cataract Falls, first with just my son, and then as a family a few days later.

Cataract Falls is actually 2 falls separated by about a half-mile on Mill Creek between Cloverdale and Spencer. It’s about a 75 minute trip for me on Indy’s eastside. Both the Upper and Lower
Falls have viewing areas with a nice picnic area between them. A covered bridge spans the creek just above the upper falls. Both viewing areas are well fenced off from the falls, but we observed many people ignoring the fences to explore the falls up-close.

Cagles Mill Lake (reservoir) and Lieber SRA are just down stream. The reservoir backs up to the lower falls. McCormick’s Creek SP is just south at Spencer. We spent the afternoons exploring Mill Creek at the picnic area, then bought supper at Babb’s SuperValue in Spencer and actually picnic’d at McCormick’s Creek.
